Remember, nothing is final.  In fact, even if everything goes through without a hitch, the MAC still has several outs to void the deal or delay the process.  Such as terrorist attack, labor strikes, less air traffic, or lack of funds.  So if Northwest merges with Delta and the hub leaves town, don’t expect the MAC to have the money to back it up!
